Soft tissue infections/ injuries

Soft tissue injuries occur when there is trauma to the muscles, tendons, skin, and ligaments. Causes of soft tissue injuries include cuts, bumps, foreign bodies and even snake bites.

Symptoms of a soft tissue injury include pain, swelling and bruising. While many soft tissue injuries don’t require medical attention, it’s important to see a doctor if your child has a fever or if the injury becomes red, swollen or tender, as this may indicate an infection.

Most minor injuries can be managed at home with adequate cleaning, topical antibacterial creams and simple dressings. For any significant or dirty injuries, snake bites or wounds that cause concern, please consult with your doctor immediately.
