Pyloric stenosis

Pyloric stenosis
Pyloric stenosis is a condition that affects babies usually between the ages of 2-8 weeks. This condition is characterised by projectile vomiting after each feed in an otherwise healthy baby. It can lead to significant dehydration, so it is important to seek medical treatment as soon as possible. The condition causes the outlet of the stomach to narrow, preventing food and fluid to empty from it. The diagnosis is confirmed using ultrasound, and after correction of your babies’ hydration and electrolytes, surgery is required to relieve the obstruction.
