Paediatric endocrine pathologies

Your child’s development and growth relies on normal production and function of many hormones. A lack or excess of these hormones can result in endocrine disorders which may present with growth, weight and pubertal development disturbances. The pituitary, thyroid, pancreas and adrenal glands are the major endocrine organs.

The majority of endocrine pathologies are usually managed medically but may on occasion require surgical assessment if a growth or nodule is found.

Dr Thiebaut will request further investigations to determine the function as well as the anatomy of the growth or nodule. Treatment will be determined by the findings of the special investigations and your child’s symptoms.
